The Lawrence County Coon and Fox Hunters Association submitted a resolution to require mandatory documentation of incidental bobcat catches in WMU 1A, hoping to show that there are enough bobcats to warrant an open season. A Motion to publish the proposed resolution was made by the Southwest Division, seconded by the North Central Division, during the Fall PFSC Board Meeting. The Motion Carried. Resolution Title: Bobcat Hunting in WMU 1A
Whereas:
The Pennsylvania Game Commission Manages and Protects Wildlife and their Habitat while promoting hunting and trapping for current and future generations.
The Pennsylvania Game Commission has instituted an Otter Trapping Season in 2021 in WMU 1A due to accidental catches from beaver trapping.
The population of bobcats in WMU 1A has risen steadily over the past several years based on sightings of and trail camera pictures.
Therefore, be it resolved:
The Pennsylvania Game Commission should institute reporting requirements for incidental bobcat catches while pursuing other furbearers in hopes of instituting a bobcat hunting and trapping season in WMU 1A.
